In Memoriam

Hans Christopher Fuson

March 6, 1972 - November 11, 2011

Dear Hans,

To our parents, you are a precious son born on a spring morning in Germany. You are a fearless little boy climbing up the mountains in Switzerland. You are St. Louis. You are a lover of art, learning, music, and nature. You are Pisces, an imaginative and playful boy in puddles, pools, and ponds. You are Eugene, an open-sea scuba diver, a Psychology undergrad. You are a Pacific Northwest artist - passionate, talented, connected, and successfully exhibited. Your drawings, paintings, photography, light boxes, and digital manipulations are your meditations. You are a studio builder, a truly generous friend, an entertainer, and an affectionate caretaker. You make our parents so proud.

To our larger family, you are a loving and free-spirited uncle, an energetic nephew, and a creative cousin. You are a sensitive, supportive, open-hearted, and silly sibling spirit. You are a joyous grandson - always keeping our grandparents close in your memory. You are a Heimes, a Lassen, a Lindsey, a Fuson, and so many who came before. You show us how to give love, receive appreciation, and express gratitude. Your love knows no bounds.

To your colleagues and coworkers, you are a highly skilled, thoughtful, and dedicated employee. You are a manager, an excellent community support worker, a skilled voice/data technician, an events coordinator, an organizer, and an all-around trouble- shooter-improver. More than that, you have become a friend and a confidant.

To your friends, you are a leader, a bushwhacker, a deep woods navigator. You are camping, thrill-seeking, stargazing, and swimming. You are bottle rockets and smoke bombs. You are the disco ball hanger, the celebrator, the DJ, the life of the party. You are a bocce ball champion, a Burning Man enthusiast. You are a constant source of connection in your various communities. You are a Cavalry Raider, inventor of Shadow Corps, and a faithful member of Famoid. You are DaddyWham and Hanzie Franzie. Your friends from the Whiteaker view you as a motivator, a source of broad-spread inspiration. You are rare - like no other. You are the photo-taker, the magical memory-maker.

To me, as your sister, you are a magician, a trickster, a teacher -- the one that made me strong. You are an inventive storyteller and several secret locations in the creek. You are grapes in my glass of milk and a fantastic reason to move west for college. You are Kitty, Sagan, & Bop. You are a paper-chewer, a dreamer, a brave jack-of-all- trades. You are the ultimate atmosphere creator, the impartial introducer, the gentle web weaver. You are patient, precise, and my driven kin. You are honesty and communication. You are 6'5" tiptoe hugs and a smooth black winter coat. You are many moments of patience, silent understanding, and forgiveness. You are the light bringer, the fire keeper.

Love,
Alison
